I went to check my Love Joy shocks at the rebuilder . He could not get any leather seals for the shocks . So he replaced the seals with modern materials . This is an old shop and he had a can of the original oil that goes in the shocks . It states the oil should be changed yearly and every 1,000 miles check oil level . Just to check the oil would be job in my opinion . They now move smoothly by hand with moderate force applied to them .
I picked up my shocks today . They were sand blasted , painted and rebuilt for $225 apiece . I heard that Apple Hydraulics charges $275 apiece and at least $100 apiece shipping back and forth .
