Battery Setup with Kill Switch
Although my car has a complete new wiring harness as a matter of practice I always put a kill switch in. The biggest threat to a prewar car is that the generator cutout gets stuck and if there is power it will overheat and start a fire. I have a friend who does not use kill switches but instead rebuilds his cut-outs with a diode which eliminates the problem. Here is my batter box, with dual dry cells batteries and the cutout on the outside of the box. Hopefully this is a relatively easy spot to access without being obvious.
