See attached picture of my water pump. Could some one confirm that the bearing is removed by turning the insert counter clockwise? It sure looks that way but is coming out hard.

I got a call from Dan Shaferman in Lansing with help on taking this apart. Here is what he said. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
1. Be sure the lock wire is removed. It may be hidden under grease or sediment but the the bearing cannot be removed until the wire is taken off.
2. Pop the seal out. Do not worry about bending it as you can hammer it back into shape before re-installation.
3. Make a tool that fits into the holes. Turn counter clockwise to remove.

The procedure as posted works. We needed to make a tool to actually spin the insert out. The bearing in my pump actually looks find but I'll see about getting a new one. I'll post the source if anyone else needs one.
