Ignition Switch

My car is missing its ignition switch. I thought that it was probably like the Duesenberg and others which is basically a key attached to the coil. However, looking at the pictures Victor took at John I'm not worried it might be more. Does the ignition switch do more than turn on the ignition? I see a transmission lockout picture. Could anyone explain?

If anybody could comment on this I would appreciate it. I probably could use measurements and also an explanation of how it works. Does the key work both the ignition and a lockout in the transmission?

I am no expert but when we were looking at Jim Neal's car in Lansing . Someone said that the transmission might be tied in . Ask Jim or Dan Shafarman . As I believe Dan is doing some work for Jim .

I did talk Victor as his Stutz has similar mechanism. It does lock the transmission. I believe the lock can be engaged independent of the transmission.

So I was very lucky that my friend Mike Leveille at KM Lifstyles had an original coil with connected ignition switch.
