Motor Mounts

I'm replacing my motors as they were original and brittle. Steele has perfect replacements. However, the front mounts actually had steel bushings instead of rubber. I assume these were put in at some later date because the originals were junk and they couldn't get replacements. Or are the fronts supposed to be steel?

Yes John, we pulled the engine to swap the mounts. Will re-assemble with the new flywheel/clutch/pressure plate and transmission installed before re-installing. My mounts were hard as a rock and cracked. I will find out the part # and approx cost and post it for everyone else.

Part number from Steele is 16-0006-11. Cost is 160.00 per set. Front & Rear require 2 sets.

Thanks John. That is what I thought. It looks like someone replaced my front rubber bushings with 100% steel ones at some point. Will go back to rubber with the steel insert.

The inside diameter hole on the rubber insert is large and will fit an insert. Maybe not the original ones however.

Those engine mounts look good . Mine have a few hairline cracks on the flange part .

The flange part of the rubber mount . Mine are still soft and not hard like stone .

I looked at all four of the engine mounts for the 8 cylinder engine for the 31-? Royales and all four had metal sleeves in the middle of the rubber bushing where the mounting bolt would go through.
