Great grandfather in his Reo Royale - Belgium late 1930's

Here is the text of his post and the picture: Just found this picture taken by my grandfather in the late 30's. The man sitting in the car is his father. I remember my grandfather told me about the headlights wich were quite powerful, his Willocq-Bottin searchlight and the little lights on the fenders as required by the Belgian law. They did a lot of travelling with the Reo. I must ask my father but I think they used it till after the war untill a little FIAT came kill itself under the front wing. Repairs were too difficult and the car was given to a technical school as a study object where it has been dismantled and finally scrapped..

Yes that is beautiful picture . Sad to here the Royale had to go to the scrap yard . Click on the picture above there is a some great pictures of Royales behind that picture .

One point several members have discussed in the past is the wheel lock ring... in the picture of your great grandfather's car, it shows it as in most original pics I have seen, painted black (or at least the very dark body color, whichever it was), and not chromed.

I wonder what would the Belgian law must have said about side fender lights, as the cars came originally equipped with them, in about the same shape as the headlights. And speaking about headlights, of course I could not swear it, but it appears to me that the lenses in your family's car were changed and the car is using a clear glass, just as with the Marchals of the era. Perhaps it was also a law thing in France or Belgium.
